At Sweet Mandarin, we believe that dining out should be an experience that engages all of your senses. We also believe that food is not just about sustenance, but also about bringing people together. That's why we strive to create an atmosphere where families and friends can gather to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine. We create chinese food dishes that not only tastes amazing but also looks and smell incredible. We believe that every meal at our chinese restaurant should be a celebration and a memorable one. We cater for coeliacs and those needing a glutenfree diet. We also have a vegan menu. Or if you wish, feel free to order a chinese takeaway or outside catering.
Our chinese restaurant is a casual dining no frills setting designed to provide a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for all of our guests. Whether you're looking for a romantic night out or a fun evening with friends with chinese food and exotic cocktails, Sweet Mandarin is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We are on ground floor level so are wheelchair friendly.
OUR PROMISE
We confirm all gluten free dishes are cooked totally separately in their own fryer and wok with their own dedicated chopping board and ladles so zero cross contamination. We make the core sauces in house so know hand on heart what the base ingredients are and have chosen naturally gluten free ingredients. We also confirm we have zero loose flour on site. We take catering for our coeliac and gluten intolerant customers with the utmost of seriousness. We want to keep our customers 100% safe and happy - we even have gluten free beer and we have also ensured our drinking straws do not have gluten in them !
This also applies for vegan dishes. We promise those dishes are cooked totally separately from meat dishes.
Since 1959, our family have served the Manchester community with our family inspired Chinese food dishes. Our restaurant continues with the third generation of women restaurateurs who share a passion for Chinese food and a love for Manchester. We are grateful and humbled to our customers for the support that spans generations past, and generations to come. From our family to yours, with love.
Our family story has been published by Random House (book is called Sweet Mandarin and you can buy it here).
" Sweet Mandarin is a banquet of family stories that take us from a small Chinese village to cosmopolitan Hong Kong and urban Manchester. Along the way, the ingredients of special dishes and a rich life are added: a homemade stock of hard life, a pound of tragedy, a spoonful of daring, a dash of curses, and dollop after dollop of sheer will. This is a family memoir of survival and victories, luck and determination, and perpetual mounds of dirty dishes waiting to be washed." -- Amy Tan, author of The Joy Luck Club
